Multi-Purpose
Urethane Casting Resins
SC-300 Series * SC-320
Series * SC-Colormatch Series * SC-Semi-Rigid
Series
The Smooth-On family of
multi-purpose urethane casting resins offers the user tremendous
versatility and economy. These products feature the convenience of
a one-to-one mix ratio by volume -- no scale is necessary. Very low
viscosity ensures easy mixing, pouring and exact duplication of
detail. These urethane resins cure with negligible shrinkage to
hard plastics that are tough, durable, machinable and paintable.
They also resist moisture and mild solvents. Vibrant color and
color effects are easily achieved by adding pigments.
Applications:
- Prototype Models/Parts
- Plastic Mechanical Parts
- Sculpture Reproductions
- Architectural Models
- Artistic Creations
- Durable Miniatures &
Toys
- Special Effects
- Theater Props
- Cold Cast Bronze (Bonded
Metal) Castings

SC 45D,60D &
61D
- our least expensive semi-rigid,
impact resistant urethane resins. These plastics can really
take a beating. Amber color allows easy coloration with
So-Strong color tints.
SC-300,
SC-305 and SC-310 - the lowest viscosity of any casting
resins available. They literally pour like water and yield
castings that are bright white and virtually bubble-free. They have no odor and contain no solvents (low shrinkage factor). SC-300 is ideal for making fast castings and can be consistently
foamed. SC-310 has a 20 min. pot life for applications requiring a
longer cycle time.
SC-320,
SC-321 and SC-322 -
lower cost
version of SC 300 Series. Off-white in color.
C-1508 -
our hardest and most
durable urethane plastic. Originally developed to make vacuum
forming molds, C-1508 is aluminum filled (looks like aluminum) and
can be cast in thick sections with negligible shrinkage. Fully
cured C-1508 can be machined (drilled, sawed, sanded, filed,
tapped, etc.) and painted.
C-1509
-
semi-rigid plastic (has
some flexibility) that is strong and very tough. Originally
developed for high impact tooling (drop hammer punch), C-1509 also
offers good abrasion and chemical resistance. This product is
suitable for some FDA/USDA applications - dry food contact only.
C-1515
-
a soft semi-rigid plastic
that offers a fast cure and demold time. C-1515 is flexible enough
to be used as a fast setting mold material or for quick model
duplication. Cured castings exhibit good heat and chemical
resistance.
C-1520
is essentially the same material, but offers a
longer pot life and demold time.
Crystal Clear 200, 202 and 204 -
for applications that require absolute clarity. They feature a low
viscosity system that cures at room temperature with negligible
shrinkage to a hard plastic. Cured castings are water white clear,
UV stable and will not yellow over time. Vibrant or tint colors
are achieved with color pigments. The Crystal Clear Series has
Shore 50A and Shore 95A flexible counterparts: Clear Flex 50 and
Clear Flex 95.
Crystal
Clear 220 & 221 - Heat cure resin systems that are a harder version of
other Crystal Clear Series resins that cures to an 85D Shore
hardness.
Applications
- Special Effect Models
& Props.
- Sculpture Castings
- Decorative
Jewelry/Miniatures
- Acrylic Substitute
- Potting/Encapsulation
- Imitation Glass/Ice
- Surface Laminations
- Architectural Models

TASK High
Performance Plastics
TASK Plastics
are a new generation of performance urethane
casting resins that offer superior physical properties compared to our popular Smooth-Cast line of general purpose casting resins.
TASK Plastics feature convenient mix ratios, low viscosities, high tensile and flexural strength, as well as high flexural modulus. These plastics were formulated for a variety of industrial
applications including making prototype models, pattern making, and making high impact rotational castings
(TASK 15).
SMASH!™
Plastic
SMASH!™
Plastic is a new urethane liquid plastic designed to shatter
on impact ("breakaway glass")Truly looks and
sounds like breaking glass.
Cast thin to make window panes or rotationally cast to make hollow
bottles. Read the technical bulletin carefully for details.
Epoxy
Casting Compounds
Smooth-On Epoxy Casting Compounds are suitable for a variety of
industrial applications. Epoxy Compounds are harder than our
urethane plastics and offer superior resistance to impact,
abrasion and heat distortion. Used in conjunction with an
appropriate hardener (Sonite 01, 03, 07, 08, 11, 16 hardeners),
different properties are attainable. Consult technical bulletins
for complete details.
A-30
Aluminum Filled - Non-settling, low viscosity with low
overall shrinkage.
Formula 20-136
Mineral Filled - Superior heat resistance, low viscosity,
readily degasses itself. Can be used as a high temperature epoxy
adhesive (resists temperatures up to 350 F / 177 C).
Applications
- Vacuum Form Molds
- Forming Dies
- Foundry Patterns
- Fixtures
- Industrial Gears
- Hard Rollers
- Encapsulation
- Base Pads
- Core Box Liners
- High Impact Models/Special
Effects Props
- Tracing Patterns For
Pantagraph And Deckel Modeling Machines
