Is It Plastic, Or Is It Real?
Additives Can Produce the Look for a Fraction of Cost

More and more people are using powders and pigments to achieve realistic wood, metal and stone finishes for their liquid plastic castings.

Smooth-On liquid plastics (or resins) have been used in many different applications to achieve a realistic finish at a much lower cost. Castings can be solid, back-filled with foam, filled with weight fillers or cast hollow depending on the project.

“Cold casting” is a term used to describe the process of mixing metal powder with a resin to give the appearance and weight of solid metal. Smooth-On offers bronze, brass, copper and nickel/silver powders to help meet your metal casting goals.

A realistic wood-grain finish can be achieved by adding pecan shell flour and pigment.
