New Polysulfides
Polysulfide Mold Rubbers Now Available
We pioneered polysulfide elastomer chemistry in the 1950s and
continue to supply the major tire manufacturers and art bronze
foundries around the world. Lead cured polysulfides remain an
environmental issue, and we do offer manganese products. But lead
cured polysulfides remain the most widely used.
We have not introduced a new polysulfide for some time and are
pleased to add products to the FMC line. They have been tested
extensively by both tire mold producers and art bronze foundries
and are currently being purchased in drum quantities by both types
of customers.
Manganese Curative / FMC- 209 is a soft Shore 12A version of our
popular FMC-208 Manganese Curative. Where lead is an issue, these
two products can be offered as an alternative and are the best
manganese cure polysulfides on the market. Very Soft / FMC- 214
Lead Curative - is a very soft Shore 5A and is used for making
molds of originals with severe undercuts. Fast Cure / FMC- 220
Lead Curative - is a Shore 20A and is ready for production in 8
hours. Fast Cure / FMC- 222 Lead Curative - is a Shore 28A and is
ready for production in 8 hours.
Remember, the advantages of polysulfides is that they cure over
wet models and are not inhibited by sulphur, which is present in
many modeling clays. Also, they have tremendous stretch and very
long mold life (weve seen molds that are 30+ years old - still
usable). The negatives include lead curative (which is why we have
FMC-208 & 209), offensive odor and an inability to cast
anything but wax or gypsum plasters and expect a long mold life.
